The extremely athletic Guard out of Louisville known for his nickname Russdiculousness sure thinks so. Smith averaged 18.2 PPG 3.3 RPG 4.6 APG and 2.0 STL in his senior season as a Cardinal. 23 years old 6’0″ tall and 165 lbs. out of Brooklyn, NY knows exactly what being an underdog feels like. Coming out of highschool he was widely regarded as only a two to three star recruit. But in his Junior year with the help of other people like Peyton Siva, Gorgui Dieng and head coach Rick Pitino Louisville was able to beat Michigan in the 2012-2013 National Champion Game.
We all know Russ Smith can score, putting up over 20 points in 12 games in his Senior season. Smith is also known for his “up in your jersey” scrappy defense racking up over 250 steals in his four years as a Cardinal. The problem NBA teams have with Smith is his inconsistency and ability to make bad decisions (another reason why his nickname is Russdiculousness). Averaging 2.4 Turnovers a game. Expect Russ Smith to go late first round to a team looking for a good defending Guard to provide a scoring burst off the bench. NBA Comparison: Louis Williams.
